Falcon 7800 OS Upgrade

Good day - My organisation purchased two used 7800 Falcons for testing/training purposes as we currently have two 7800's as production we'd prefer to test any changes in our lab before applying them to our producition system. The two core production switches are under maintenance with Alcatel reseller however we were advised since purchasing the 7800 lab switches we now have to purchase a maintenance contract to provide us with code updates and other services which are not important for our lab gear. Do we really need to purchase another maintenance for our lab 7800 switches just to get the OS upgrade which we already have with the current 7800 switches. Someone advised me that they believed Alcatel-Lucent bind the MAC address to ...
