iPod proplems with the CDA 9856

I had a new harness installed and now my ipod doesnt work with the deck. Prior to getting the harness installed, it worked fine. Now when i plug the ipod in, the deck just says "searching" and never leaves that phase. The guys at best buy think there might be an update i have to do in order to get it to work?? any suggestions?...
